- Mr. Md. Akter Hosen has been serving as the Chief Judicial Magistrate of this district since December 3, 2024. He is a distinguished member of the 3rd Bangladesh Judicial Service (BJS) batch, with a service ID number of 008203243. Born on July 1, 1980, into a respected Muslim family in Titas Upazila of Cumilla district, he has maintained strong ties to his roots throughout his life. His father, Md. Abdur Rahman, and mother, Sajeda Begum, raised him with values that have guided his journey both personally and professionally.
- Mr. Md. Akter Hosen pursued his higher education at the University of Chittagong, from where he earned his LL.B (Honours) and LL.M degrees. His academic accomplishments laid a solid foundation for his career in the judiciary.
- Over the years, Mr. Md. Akter Hosen has held various significant judicial positions, including serving as an Additional District and Sessions Judge in the District Judge Courts of Sylhet and Noakhali. During his tenure in these roles, he delivered verdicts in a substantial number of long-pending and high-profile cases, particularly those involving murder, narcotics, and arms-related offenses. His firm commitment to justice and efficiency has earned him recognition across multiple judicial districts. In addition to Sylhet and Noakhali, he has served with distinction in the districts of Chattogram, Bhola, Lakshmipur, and Gaibandha, where he was respected for his integrity and judicial competence.
- Throughout his career, Mr. Md. Akter Hosen has been committed to continuous professional development. He has participated in numerous training programs and courses designed to enhance judicial and administrative skills. These include the 85th and 113th Judicial Administration Training Courses, the 62nd BCS Officers Orientation Course, the 104th Survey and Settlement Course, the 136th Refresher Course, and the 11th Judicial Administration Orientation Course. He also participated in a virtual training program conducted by the National Judicial Academy of India, underscoring his interest in staying abreast of international judicial perspectives and practices.
- Before entering the judiciary, from 2006 to May 2008, Mr. Hosen served as a faculty member in the Department of Law at the Islamic University, Chattogram. His passion for legal education also led him to teach part-time at the University of Chittagong and other educational institutions. He has contributed to legal scholarship by writing several articles that have been published in various journals and print media, reflecting his deep engagement with both theory and practice in the field of law.
- Outside of his professional life, Mr. Hosen is an avid sports enthusiast. He finds joy and relaxation in playing tennis, football, and badminton. His enthusiasm for sports dates back to his student days, during which he actively participated in football and cricket tournaments at school, college, and university levels.
